I hope that the future of my passion project is a bright one. Nature appreciation goes hand in hand with conservation and I’m looking forward to seeing ways that it gets expressed. Areas of growth could be preventing plastic in our oceans for starters. Trending movements like “save the turtles” have put a small ban on plastic straws, even though they only make up 1% of plastic pollution. Environmental education is another way to promote conservation since it promotes sustainable living through recycling, thoughtful waste production, and watchful water usage. Even simply planting a tree could help.

As for an area of decline, I can sadly definitely see the possible outcome if we choose it ignore our detrimental ways of living. Animals will go extinct, the ozone layer will deplete to nothing, and oceans will shrivel up. Can you imagine a future where your grandkids would have to wear gas masks to go outside? And instead of zoos and national parks, there will only be museums to visit. This does not sound like the future I want.

I’ll continue to own this passion for nature as I age. I like to think that I live earth-friendly and I advocate for earth-conscious decisions (like bringing trash bags to beach kickbacks, using the commute system, recycling, thrifting, and all that). I also scold my friends that litter and tell them to pick up after themselves if that counts.
Nature appreciation and conservation is definitely an area of concern for future generations to come. Remember what I said about the gas masks and extinction of animals? People need to think for the future of the Earth if we plan on continuing to inhabit it. Plant gardens, pick up trash, reduce your plastic usage, and shop eco-friendly. Some people live by the “if it’s yellow, let it mellow, if its brown, flush it down” saying. I’ll pass on that one, but the choice is up to you.
